Dreaming about summer? Thinking about how you could be on the water enjoying the warmth of the sun with a personal watercraft (PWC)? But with so many options and models to choose from, it can be daunting to figure out which one is best for you! To help break it down, here’s a quick overview of the 5 different WaveRunner categories.
Rec-Lite
The Rec-Lite category includes the newly expanded JetBlaster series. Designed to be lightweight and a little more compact, the JetBlaster is perfect for those looking to show off and fine tune their tricks on the water. With a 3-piece polypropylene deck and an SMC fiberglass hull, the JetBlaster is the best of both worlds by being light enough to get the nose out of the water while still being durable enough in the water.
All JetBlasters come with a TR-1 Yamaha Marine Engine, with the JetBlaster PRO and LTD having a high-output engine for that extra boost to reach 110 horsepower, the most in its class! While staying lightweight and nimble the JetBlaster LTD has the largest volume of storage at 13.5L of dedicated storage for all your needs. If you’re looking to inject some adrenaline into your summer, then the JetBlaster is for you!
Recreation
Moving up to the Recreation category you’ll discover the VX series, perfect for those looking to cruise around and explore the water, while still being able to have fun. Slightly longer and wider than the JetBlasters, all VX models can comfortably fit up to 3 riders at a time, perfect for those wanting to do watersports! The VX Cruiser models feature a cruiser seat that adds extra lumbar support for an added level of comfort on long rides. The decks are also made with the same SMC fiberglass as the hull, giving riders more stability on the water.
For engine choice you can choose between either a 3-cylinder, 4-stroke TR-1 High Output Yamaha Marine or a 4-cylinder, 4-stroke 1.9 Litre High Output Yamaha Marine depending on the model for a maximum of 180 horsepower.
As for technology, the VX Series has the choice of optional Sound by Yamaha on non-limited models and includes a 4.3-inch Connext screen to monitor the engine, track trips, and customize rider preferences. If youre looking for a solid, reliable all-rounder, then you’re looking for a VX WaveRunner.
Luxury
If you’re looking for all the bells and whistles and a premium riding experience, then the FX series is calling your name. The longest and widest of all the WaveRunners, the FX models give you the most stability on the water while keeping you dry, because sometimes you want to be on the water without being in the water. If you’re not looking to compromise on speed, the FX SVHO, Cruiser SVHO and Limited SVHO models include a Supercharged 4-cylinder, 4-stroke, Super Vortex High Output Yamaha Marine Engine with up to 250 horsepower.
In addition to the features included in the VX series, the FX models come with a larger, 7-inch Touchscreen Connext system, plus the ability to take calls when connected to your phone, taking “Work from Anywhere” to a whole new level.
FX WaveRunners also come with a whopping 168.3 litres of storage, perfect for those that tend to overpack. Whether you’re going out on a long trip or want to stand out with all the premium features, the FX series is the perfect fit.
Performance
As the name suggests, the Performance category focuses on getting the most out of a WaveRunner, and the GP series is up for the job. From the Super Vortex High Output Yamaha Marine engine found on the GP SVHO to the sleek design of the deck and seats, this WaveRunner is ready to get you where you need to go in record-breaking time. Even if you don’t want to hit top speed, the GP still comes with all the features that make it a signature Yamaha, including the optional Sound by Yamaha audio package, Connext screen and RiDE technology to help make accelerating and braking smooth and intuitive. If you have a need for speed, then the GP series is for you!
Freestyle
The Freestyle category features the one-and-only Yamaha SuperJet. As a stand-up model, the SuperJet is meant for those looking to take on a new challenge. Equipped with the signature TR-1 Yamaha Marine Engine and an adjustable handlepole, the SuperJet is no longer reserved for professional riders with a racing license. If you are ready to try something new, the SuperJet will be your perfect companion.
